Classes designated as Town Hall (TH) are existing 沈 classes that satisfy the approved 沈 learning objectives within their 指定的范围. Professors are given the option to add a series of Town hall signature assignments to their course designed specifically to place the skills, 知识, 和 viewpoints students develop in their 沈 classes into larger social, 政治, 以及全球背景. A statistics 市政厅 assignment will look very different than a dance 市政厅 assignment which will look very different from a 政治 science assignment. 共性是学生关注的问题. 例如, a student in statistics 和 a student in a dance class both choose “homelessness” as their global issue. The dance assignment requires students to choose an object relevant to the global issue they researched 和 choreograph a dance focused on that object. - Meetings are held with student affairs 和 faculty to brainstorm during May assessment week.
- The list is finalized with the faculty who choose to designate their 沈 class as 市政厅.
- Faculty determine which topics they will provide as options for their own classes.
- The specific Town hall signature assignments align with individual course learning objectives so Town Hall faculty follow the same assessment protocol as other classes in the 沈 program.
